Halloween DIY - Spooky Hanging Mobile

🍁 Autumn is here! 🍁

The perfect time for cosying up at home with some hot chocolate, while watching the wind and the rain, through the window. Since our latest book "Name, Name, Name and the Haunted House's Secret" is perfect for Autumn and the spooky season of Halloween, we decided to create a fun little craft project for you! Our Halloween mobile featuring original artwork from the book is a perfect way to give the kids a crafty, creative afternoon 🧡🖤🧡

Simply download our Halloween DIY Mobile file and follow our instructions for a great time and a lovely decoration for your children's room. The PDF consists of 2 pairs of pages, that each contain the front and back version of a design.

You will need: the printed out pdf, wooden skewers, some thread, scissors and a glue stick.

✂️ Start by cutting out the different designs and putting the pairs together and aside ✂️

TIP: Don't worry if the contours don't fit together perfectly, we recommend going around the edges one more time after they have been glued together for some fine tuning.

For each pair, cut a piece of thread of about 40-50cm length, then apply some glue to the backside of one of the designs. Add the end of a piece of thread and put the other side of the design on top of it. Once the glue is dry, now is the time for some finishing touches, with the scissors to make sure none of the white backside of the paper shows around the contours.

TIP: The thread should be placed so that it comes out of the top of your design, otherwise it will hang a bit lopsided 😉

Bind two skewers together in a cross formation with an extra long piece of thread - this will be used to hang your mobile from a lamp, ceiling or wherever you want to hang it.

Now, you can take your designs and bind them to the skewers. We recommend hanging one right down from the middle of the cross and then spacing the other designs out evenly across the 4 sides. You can decide for yourself how high/low the element should hang. We only used 10 out of the 12 available designs for our mobile, so feel free to choose your favourites or put them all on at once.

TIP: It takes a bit of practice to balance it out, but you can easily adjust the weight of the different sides by sliding the elements further out or in on the skewers and playing with the length of thread. It's a bit tricky, but the result is definitely worth it!

We hope you have as much fun crafting this as we did with our version. Please share all your lovely designs with us on our social media #mybesthalloween 🎃👻
